The perfect romantic weekend in beautiful upstate New York. Depending on the time of year you decide to come basically will decide what you are going to do.
The Fall is a great time to come to upstate New York for someone who loves the outdoors and wine. Bristol Harbour Resort is a great hotel/getaway. Bristol Harbour is a golf course and restaurant/tavern overlooking the south end of Canandaigua Lake. For a short day trip you can head out on one of the Finger Lakes Wine Trails and sample many of the local wines of the region all within an hour or so driving distance. Another great idea would be to go over to Bristol Mountain (a local ski mountain) where they offer Sky Tours. For about $15 you can get a ride to the top of the mountain on the chairlift and hike around all day. If you would just like to check it out and ride back down you can do that also. Some of the small local restaurants in Canandaigua are great for lunch. A few bar/grill suggestions would be Eddie Obriens or MacGregors. For a romantic dinner head out to Casa de Pasta or The Inn on the Lake (another option for accomodations) for some great views of Canandaigua Lake.
In the Winter there are a wide variety of activites mostly focused but not restricted to the out doors. There is ice skating on the lake, skiing at Bristol Mountain, and even cooking classes and wine tasting at The New York Wine and Culinary Center.
In the Summer, Canandaigua is all about the lake and the local golf courses. Renting a boat or bringing your own is a great way to spend a weekend in the sun. There are a variety of great local golf course and just an hour away at Locust Hill they play the LPGA tour. Recently Roseland Waterpark has made it's way into Canandaigua which is more for a family instead of a romantic getaway.
No matter what the season you have to check out one of the best grocery stores in the country, ""Wegmans."" This isn't your average grocery store, they have multiple eat in sections where you can get anything from pizza and subs to Chinese food or even a fully cooked gourmet meal. They also have a tiki bar set up where you can enjoy your favorite drinks (yes still in the grocery store). It is an experience like no other.
